

The Student Course Assistant attends course meetings and provides weekly small group sessions covering the course content. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Overall GPA of 2.75 with a 3.0 GPA in major.Good academic and student conduct standing.Prior enrollment in the selected course highly desirable.Faculty recommendation (content competency required).Earned grade of B+ or higher in the selected course.Must be a Kutztown University, undergraduate, degree-seeking student.Submit attendance and student employee time card bi-weekly to Tutoring Services.Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.Limit tutoring time per session to approximately 1 hour.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each tutoring session using Tutoring Services forms.Make appropriate student referrals to college offices, departments or professionals, when necessary.Be familiar with campus resources available to students.Create and maintain a tutoring schedule convenient to both tutor and tutee.Provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to assigned students (tutees).Peer tutors provide and help to integrate effective learning and study strategies for their assigned students while at the same time helping to clarify and/or reinforce course content, assignments, and material. Peer tutors assist assigned students in becoming more successful and independent learners. A Peer Tutor is a knowledgeable student who has a general understanding of Kutztown University systems, academics, and resources to enhance a student’s academic experience.
